Usage

Recommended for

– Interior floors, walls, mudrooms, kitchen islands, entryway, backsplashes, fireplace surrounds, showers, steam rooms, decorative walls, and bathroom floors.

– Commercial and high-traffic areas such as restaurants, bars, and offices.

– Stair risers.

– Some outdoor applications, such as patio floors under a covered area. Outdoor kitchens and showers in warmer climates and most areas not directly exposed to freezing conditions.

Avoid use in

– Areas exposed to freezing conditions, sloped floors in wet areas, stair treads, and commercial kitchen flooring.

Grout

Grout Color and Joint

Although grout color is based on personal preference and your specific project, we recommend Mapei Ultracolor Plus FA 38 Avalanche. Read our grout color blog for additional recommendations.

We recommend grout spacing between 1/8”-1/2”. Due to size variation in handmade tile, a smaller grout joint can create uneven grout lines, therefore larger grout lines can be easier to install. This is a recommendation, so feel free to consult us if you need additional guidance. 

Trim

For a clean and contemporary look: use a Schluter Schiene Satin Anodized Aluminium – 11/16″. This sleek metal trim is paintable and available in various finish options.

For a traditional look: you can select a special order either glazed single bullnose or glazed edge here.

• HOW TO AVOID GROUTING THE NATURAL SURFACE VOIDS

  • If your preference is to leave the natural surface voids unfilled, we recommend using the “grout bag” technique. This technique is similar to a pastry bag technique: fill the mixed grout in a grout bag (or a plastic bag with a small hole in it). Then squeeze out the grout, applying it directly to the joints only. This way, you do not apply grout across the tile face. As with all installations, we recommend you test your grouting technique on a small area before grouting an entire installation. We recommend filling any holes with grout (using the traditional technique of applying grout to the face of the tile) in wet areas, such as showers, to avoid water permeating the tile.
